Mission Statement:
The mission of the Bishop Cosgrove Meal Program is to feed people.
About the Ministry:
The Bishop William M. Cosgrove Center is located at 1736 Superior Avenue in Cleveland. It is a hunger and day drop in center for the homeless and hungry of Cleveland. Breakfast and lunch are served Monday through Friday to those in need. The center also offers other services like shower facilities, identification documentation, rent & utility assistance, and mail distribution.
Every Friday at 9:00 am, Divine Word parishioners meet to help cook meals and drop them off at the Cosgrove center for their hot meal program.
Ministry Leadership:
If you are interested in supporting or have any questions about the Bishop Cosgrove Meal Program at Divine Word, please reach out to Debbie Lokar at the Parish Office directly.
How to get involved:
There are many ways you can support the Bishop Cosgrove Meal Program:
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Join fellow parishioners in the Divine Word kitchen on Fridays at 9:00 AM to prepare meals. Check out the Parish Calendar to stay up to date!
- When we’re not cooking meals, we’re making pierogi for our Lenten Program sales, which help fund the Meal Program.
- If you have a larger vehicle, we’d greatly appreciate your help transporting meals to the Bishop Cosgrove Center.
Donation Opportunities:
- Monetary donations are always welcome and especially helpful. You can donate online via our on-line giving or bring your donation to the Parish Office.
- We often need large 9 x 9 x 3-inch foam 3-compartment containers from GFS.
- We also use #6 cans (3 quarts) of fruit or vegetables. Please contact Debbie Lokar to find out how many cans are needed each week. All cans should contain the same type of fruit or vegetable.
- A cargo van donation (new or used) would be a tremendous blessing!
